Understanding Pending, Completed, and Failed Payments

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Overview:

Every Pebl transaction is labelled with a payment status that tells you where the payment is in the process — from unpaid to bank-settled.

Payment Statuses Explained:

Pending (Waiting for payment)

Pending transactions are payment requests that were started but never completed.

For example, if you enter $30 to accept a Tap to Pay payment, but the customer changes their mind or pays outside of Pebl (e.g., in cash), the transaction will remain marked as Pending until it’s manually deleted.

Since these payments were never processed, Pending transactions are not included in your revenue or income reports.

Payment Made

This status means the customer has successfully paid through Pebl using a supported method (e.g., Tap to Pay, Payment Link, QR Code, or PayID).

Once a transaction is marked Payment Made, the funds are securely being processed and will appear in an upcoming settlement.

Payment Received

Payment Received indicates that the payment has now been paid out to your bank account as part of a recent settlement.

You’ll usually see this status a day or two after Payment Made, depending on the settlement timeline.

Partially Refunded

This means you refunded a portion of the payment — for example, if the customer returned one item from a multi-item purchase.

The remaining amount is still counted as revenue and will appear in your payout minus the refunded portion.

Refunded

The entire payment has been refunded to the customer. These funds will not appear in your final revenue or settlements.

Fully refunded payments are clearly marked so you can easily distinguish them from completed transactions.

FAQs and Troubleshooting Tips:

Can I delete a Pending transaction?
Yes. You can manually remove it if the customer didn't go ahead with payment. You can do this by swiping left on Pending transactions.

Why don’t I see a transaction marked as Payment Received yet?
It may still be in transit from Payment Made — allow 2 business days for settlement.
