Overview:
Pebl offers three flexible product types to suit the way you do business. Whether you sell physical items, provide services, or collect donations, understanding these options helps you set up your products efficiently and accept payments seamlessly.
🏷️ Fixed-Price Products
Best For: Selling physical items or services with a set price (e.g., products, tickets, standard service fees).
How It Works:
Set the price when creating the product.
No price entry required at the time of sale—just select and charge.
Example:
Selling one or multiple $50 t-shirts
🛠️ Service Products (Variable Price)
Best For: Services where the cost varies based on time, complexity, or customer needs.
How It Works:
Set a product name and default price
You can edit the price amount at the time of payment.
Example:
Charging a call-out fee for a plumbing job on the spot or charging a custom consultancy fee.
🎗️ Donation Products
Best For: Charities, fundraisers, or businesses collecting contributions for a cause.
How It Works:
Create a donation product without a set amount.
Customers enter the donation value themselves at the time of payment.
Example:
Collecting donations at an event or online campaign.
💡 Pro Tip
Donation products can’t be used with Tap to Pay on iPhone or Android.
This is because Tap to Pay requires a fixed price before the transaction can begin—similar to how an EFTPOS terminal works. The price must be entered upfront, and the customer isn’t able to change or enter an amount themselves.
FAQs and Troubleshooting Tips:
Can I change a product’s type after it’s created?
No, but you can easily create a new product of the desired type.
Can I assign GST to all product types?
GST can be applied to Fixed-Price and Service products when creating a Xero invoice, but donations are typically GST-exempt. Consult your tax advisor if unsure. Pebl currently doesn't allow for tax to be applied for standard transactions - only Xero invoices.
